Tarvin Seafood is a family-owned business.

Vasa, Captain of the Miss Paula, shrimped with Wayne Magwood on the Winds of Fortune from the time he was 12 years old until he took the helm of the Miss Paula in 2011. Mom Cindy handles the marketing and accounting functions, and Dad Taylor helps with whatever is needed when he is in town. Other family members - grandparents, siblings, in-laws, and children - help whenever they are in town and available too. In fact, if anyone stays on the dock for too long - say 30 minutes or so - they are put to work!

Our shrimp trawlers - the Miss Paula and the Carolina Breeze - are docked at the Wando Dock on Shem Creek, in Mt. Pleasant, South Carolina. Wando Shrimp was a long-time fish house, selling all manner of seafood. With Tarvin Seafood, we have chosen to focus on what the local boats bring in: shrimp and sometimes whiting or squid. We can usually make a suggestion or two about where and when to find other seafood products too, even we do not carry them.

We are at the dock and open for retail customers every day during the shrimping season, and on weekends during the off-season. Though, on most days throughout the year, you can find us getting orders ready for our restaurant customers.

Our goal is to be one of the best businesses on the creek. We treat our customers, our crew, and the environment as well as we possibly can. Our hope is to bring shrimp from our deck to your table that is as fresh as possible, all while maintaining and sustaining the waters that provide for us all.
